2016 General Election Canvassing Board Meeting Notice

The Canvassing Board of Charlotte County will convene pursuant to Florida Statute 101.5612, Testing of Tabulating Equipment. The equipment which will be used for the 2016 General Election will be tested on Monday, October 17th, 2016 at 9:00 AM, beginning at the Elections Warehouse, 25510 Airport Road, Punta Gorda, and from there will continue at the office of the Supervisor of Elections, 226 Taylor Street in Punta Gorda. The election will be held on November 8th, 2016.

The Charlotte County Canvassing Board will convene pursuant to Florida Statutes 101.68, Tuesday, October 25th, 2016 at 8:00 am to canvass the Vote By Mail ballots for the General Election. They will meet at the Supervisor of Elections office, 226 Taylor Street, Punta Gorda. The Canvassing Board will reconvene as necessary through November 8th, 2016 to continue canvassing the Vote By Mail ballots. The Canvassing Board will meet on November 10th 2016 at 3:00 pm to certify the Unofficial Results and at 5:00 pm, canvass Provisional Ballots. The Canvassing Board will meet again on November 18th, 2016 to canvass any Overseas Ballots and to certify the Official Results.

In accordance with the Sunshine Law of Florida, the above meetings will be open to the public.

NOTE: Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, states that if a person decides to appeal any decision by a board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at a meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
