The October Membership meeting of the Property Owners of Gulf Cove was held Tuesday October 13, 2009 at the Hope Lutheran Church. We had another great turn out. Our guest speaker was Charlotte County Supervisor of Elections Paul Stamoulis. Upon greeting Paul he was reminded that he had a tuff act to follow as our last speaker was Charlotte County Commissioner Robert Skidmore who did an outstanding job. Well, Paul was sure up to the challenge as once again we kept our speaker for almost 45 minutes. Paul held everyone’s attention with a brief history of the origin of Democracy, and how our founding fathers saw the value in it as our new government was founded on its principles. Also very interesting was his explanation of the evolution of our voting machines, how we got where we are, and how they were paid for. Paul also announced that he has a full time office at the San Casa County Complex. Unique to that office is that it will be our very own early voting site for up coming elections. That is Precincts 53 and 61. Thank you so much Paul for your visit as it was very educational and greatly appreciated. We will surely have you back sometime in the future for updates on any new potential technologies.
