Charlotte County Schools – Your New Supervisor of Elections is here for you!
The Hon. Paul A. Stamoulis is traveling all over Charlotte County speaking with organizations, associations, service groups and our students, on request. All this in an effort to raise awareness and enlighten the community he was elected to serve.
On Thursday March fifth, at the invitation of Mr. Joe Dicicco, the new Supervisor and his Outreach Specialist, Randy Ann spoke to all five classes of the Punta Gorda Middle School eighth grade “Dolphins.” They are currently investigating American History to 1877; a platform that fits in well with the legacy of democracy and the foundation upon which the new Supervisor bases his enthusiasm. Mr. Dicicco’s eighth graders are currently learning from a unit on post American Revolution “…the government based on democratic principles. The Constitution was written, adopted and tested during the early republic.” He charged his students with researching the role of the Supervisor of Elections and preparing questions in advance of his attendance.
An exuberant Supervisor, passionate about history begins his presentation by discussing the roots of the very first ballot. He continues adapting his conversation with the audience and fielding a question and answer segment to wrap things up. The Outreach Specialist takes over midway through the presentation melding her knowledge of the election history and processes in Charlotte County, bringing things right up to current times.
Future similar talks are scheduled at L.A. Ainger Middle School and Murdock Middle School. A Voter Registration Drive is planned for Port Charlotte High School and a school election is going to be held at Edison Community College in the near future.
The Supervisor of Elections is available to speak to your students, your group, association or service group and will custom tailor his presentation accordingly. He is passionate about his service to the residents of Charlotte County. He is an avid believer in the democratic process and wants to do everything within his capabilities of raising awareness of the history and function of a democratically-elected government.
